Arrival & Departure

Arrival on Sunday* (Day 1):2:00 - 4:00pm EST.Please call SharpTop by 9:00am EST to give your ETA and hear the final arrival reminders. Please inform your bus company that our driveway operates as a one-way entrance and exit. To ensure everyone's safety, there may be delays during arrival as we navigate buses, welcome groups, and hold departing buses until incoming buses have arrived at camp. Our goal is to get everyone to camp as quickly and safely as possible. Please build in at least a one-hour buffer for departure due to expected days. For instance, if you arrive at camp at 2:00 PM, communicate with your bus company that they may not be able to leave camp until 3:00 PM.

Departure on Saturday* (Day 7):2:00pm EST, directly after club. **Please schedule your departure bus to arrive between 12:30pm - 1:00pm EST. If your bus arrives outside of this window, we will NOT have staff monitoring the driveway for oncoming traffic.

Airport Shuttles: We are unable to provide shuttles to/from the ATL airport, but can suggest an outside shuttle company that folks use often in the summer. Please contact them directly to schedule and pay for a shuttle: Airport Star Shuttle; 770-653-8873

*If your area is planning to fly in/out of the ATL airport and then drive to camp, please contact us for recommended arrival/departure times before booking flights.

Health Form & Consent Form

Every individual attending a Young Life camping or high-risk event (campers, leaders, staff, volunteers, adult guests, infants, toddlers, etc.) must submit a completed Health and Consent form for each event. A completed form provides important medical and insurance information in the event of an accident or illness and is required prior to trip departure.

Please review the Health Form page on Staff Resources for step-by-step instructions on inviting parents to complete the health form and reviewing submitted information.

Questions? Reach out to ylcamping@sc.younglife.org.

Other Items

  • Area Camp Trip Survey: We'll send out the Area Camp Trip Survey in April. Please be sure to complete the survey by the assigned deadline. This survey allows the assigned team and camp staff to best prepare for your arrival at camp.
  • Food Allergies/Dietary Restrictions: Please ensure campers and leaders list food allergies/dietary restrictions on their health form.
  • Retail Gift Cards: Click this link to purchase an e-Gift card for our retail spaces before your arrival. These e-Gift Cards can be used at any YL camp and never expire! If you are wanting to set up a ticket (“tab”) for your area, please bring your p-card to camp and come by the snack bar or coffee shop to set that up in person.
  • Summer Camp Leader Orientation: Prior to arrival, please ensure your leaders have completed the Summer Camp Leader Orientation via Learning Online. For instructions and more information, please refer to Summer Camp Leader Orientation page on Staff Resources.
  • Electronics: Please collect all personal electronics (cellphones, cellular enabled watches, iPads, laptops, DVD players, etc.) prior to your arrival; place in individual Ziploc bags and label with the camper's name and area number. These will be collected upon arrival and stored until your departure. (*Policy)
  • Medications: Please collect all prescription medications prior to your arrival; place in individual Ziploc bags and label with the camper's name and area number. All medications must be in their original prescription container with the label. These will be collected upon arrival and stored in the Infirmary to be dispensed by our medical team. We will collect all medications except birth control, epi-pens and inhalers. Camp will stock typical over-the-counter (OTC) medications or their generic equivalent; these do not need to be brought to camp. If a camper brings OTC medications to camp, they will be collected and administered along with prescription medications.
  • Early Departures: If a camper needs to leave separate from the rest of your area, a completed Permission to Leave Early form (YL-1853) must be completed online before the camper is able to leave camp
  • Campers Driving/Riding in Personal Vehicle: If a camper needs to drive their personal vehicle to/from camp OR a camper is riding to/from camp with another minor in their personal vehicle, a completed Permission to Drive To and From Camp (YL-1854) must be completed online before the camp trip. (Keep in mind that the Permission to Leave Early form (YL-1853) is also required when a camper rides home with another minor in their personal vehicle.)
  • Adult Guest Program: We are excited to host the Adult Guest program at SharpTop again this summer! To fill an open room, please email Ashlynn (astuart@younglife.org) and complete the Adult Guest registration form.
  • Controlled Substances: Use, possession or distribution of illegal and non-medical authorized drugs and/or alcohol is not allowed on camp property or in connection with any Young Life event. Young Life can send individuals home from camp or an event at their own expense and without refund for violating this policy. Young Life may also report violations of this policy to law enforcement as well as to a minor’s parent/guardian. Please refer to the Controlled Substances policy (AS-802) for more information.
  • Other Areas Your Week: Want to see which other areas will be at SharpTop your week? On your camp trip in YLCC, click the dropdown arrow in the top right and select "Camp Trips by Week". This will show every trip at the camp you are attending organized by week. If you want to see all camp trips, check out the Camp Reservation Dashboard. Select "Nationally Managed Camping" and then adjust the filters to find the data you're looking for.

Housing Layouts

We have several housing layouts to fit cabins of many sizes. Here are the details of our dorm/cabin sizes:

  • 3 Dorms: Rooms with 12-14 beds each + up to 4-6 floor mattresses
  • 1 Dorm: Rooms with 16 beds each + up to 8 floor mattresses (*Please Note: this is only 1 dorm; which gender ends up in this dorm is dependent on housing requests from all areas. If requesting this dorm, please list an alternate breakdown in "Housing Preference 2", in case we are unable to accommodate)
  • 3 Cabins: Rooms with 8 beds + up to 3 floor mattresses OR rooms with 6 beds + up to 2 floor mattresses (*Please Note: our cabins share 1 bathroom with 3 rooms each)

Assigning housing each week is a puzzle; we will do our best to accommodate "Housing Preference 1", but please know that is not always possible. Thus, when entering housing on your arrival form, please be sure to also list a secondary housing breakdown in the "Housing Preference 2" field. This allows us to see different options for all the areas, in order to best house every camper/leader. For example, if you have all girls in 1 cabin as Housing Preference 1, split the girls into 2 cabins for Housing Preference 2. At times, we may need to flex to "Housing Preference 2" or combine multiple areas in one room. We will be sure to communicate housing assignments out before arrival.
